Screens
An occupational therapy screen is a complimentary 30 minute clinical observation of your child to determine if your child may be a candidate for occupational therapy services. Screens typically take place in the school setting or daycare setting. Screens are important because they allow therapists to enter the classroom setting to observe the child in their natural environment as well as engage in therapist-led activities to determine eligibility for moving forward with an evaluation. Screens clinically observe areas of fine/visual motor, core strength, executive functioning, sensory processing, self care, bilateral coordination, and gross motor coordination. During a screen, we also look at how a child pays attention and follows simple directions.
After a screen is performed a summary will be provided via email to caregivers to share your child's strengths and growth areas and whether they may benefit from receiving a comprehensive occupational therapy evaluation.
