Collective Professional Development
OT Associates Chicago consults with a variety of schools across Chicago. Many private pre and primary schools do not provide occupational therapy services onsite and benefit from receiving hourly consultative appointments to learn how to implement strategies for fine/visual motor, sensory, executive function, regulation, visual perception, self care, gross motor and school readiness skills that are designed to benefit both staff and students so that they can optimize learning and skill development.
OT Associates Chicago offers professional development programming where clinicians observe in-classroom teaching and learning styles, classroom workflows, student engagement and participation, and more. We have experience providing faculty and staff with resources to improve attention, regulation, transitions, and engagement. Our goal is to optimize the functioning of your classroom and maximize learning for your students. Services include:
Providing teachers with consistent language tools to promote student participation
Providing teachers with executive functioning strategies and visual aids to help children stay on task as well as start-finish assignments
Implementing concepts from the Zones of Regulation curriculum as well as The Alert Program to support regulation and attention
Behavioral Intervention Plans for students who need behavioral support
Personalized social stories and coping strategies to improve emotional regulation
Environmental modification to optimize learning and inclusivity
Creating sensory rich centers for enrichment and education through an occupational therapist’s lens
Strategies to upgrade/downgrade classroom activities and assignments to meet the unique needs of their students
